От 1 ноември 2005 година 27 януари е обявен за Международен ден в памет на жертвите на Холокоста. На тази дата през 1945г. са освободени евреите от концентрационния лагер в Аушвиц. В този лагер са депортирани няколко милиона евреи и противници на хитлер. Точната бройка на загиналите в нацистките лагери не е известна, но по време на Холокоста е унищожено почти цялото еврейско население на Европа – около 6 милиона души.
Днес понятия като антисемитизъм, расизъм и дискриминация не са съвместими с нашия свят. Но статистиката продължава да бележи тревожни тенденции, според които нацистки символи често се появяват в социалните мрежи. Притеснително е също, че все повече от младите хора имат слаби познания за Холокоста или въобще не са чували за него. Историята обаче трябва да се помни, за да не се допускат втори път подобни събития с античовешки характер.
За да отбележим Международния ден в памет на жертвите на Холокоста ние, старшите и младшите посланици, от ПГМЕЕ – Бургас организирахме виртуална среща, на която поканихме и ученици от гимназията. Целта беше всички да научим нещо повече за Холокоста. В срещата използвахме образователни ресурси от “Уча се”, а след като се запознахме с историческите факти се оформи дускусия по темата.
Младшите посланици и останалите ученици се оказаха много добре запознати с Холокоста и Вората световна война. Споделиха с аудиторията, че много от знанията си са придобили от филми, посветени на този печален момент от човешката история. Стигна се до извода, че седмото изкуство показва през своя поглед Холокоста периодично, защото случилото не трябва да се забравя. За учениците киното се оказва пряк път за научаване на нещо ново и често филмът ги предизвиква да прочетат повече по дадена тема.
